{"id":1004,"date":"2020-11-10T15:13:31","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T15:13:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aroundlab.org\/news\/?p=1004"},"modified":"2020-11-10T15:46:20","modified_gmt":"2020-11-10T15:46:20","slug":"application-note-cleanroom-n-03-education-of-staff-in-cleanroom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aroundlab.org\/news\/application-note-cleanroom-n-03-education-of-staff-in-cleanroom\/","title":{"rendered":"Application Note \u2013 Cleanroom N.03 \u2013 Education of staff in Cleanroom"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Application Note \u2013 Cleanroom N.03<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 36pt;\"><strong>Education of staff in Cleanroom<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">We report the Chapter \u201cPersonnel\u201d on pages 7 and 8 of the Annex I of the Eudralex document \u201cThe\u00a0rules governing medicinal products in the European Union\u201d 25 November 2008 (rev.)<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Personnel<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">36. Only the minimum number of personnel required should be present in clean areas; this is particularly\u00a0important during aseptic processing. Inspections and controls should be conducted outside the clean\u00a0areas as far as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">37. All personnel (including those concerned with cleaning and maintenance) employed in such area\u00a0should receive regular training in disciplines relevant to the correct manufacture of sterile products. This\u00a0training should include reference to hygiene and to the basic elements of microbiology. When outside\u00a0staff who have not received such training (e.g.: building or maintenance contractors) need to be brought\u00a0in, particular care should be taken over their instruction and supervision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">38. Staff who have been engaged in the processing of animal tissue material or of cultures of microorganisms other than those used in the current manufacturing process should not enter sterile products\u00a0areas unless rigorous and clearly defined entry procedures have been followed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">39. High standards of personnel\u00a0 hygiene and cleanliness are essential. Personnel involved in the\u00a0manufacture of sterile preparation should be instructed to report any condition which may cause the\u00a0shedding of abnormal numbers or types of contaminants; periodic health checks for such conditions are\u00a0desirable. Actions to be taken about personnel who could be introducing undue microbiological hazards\u00a0should be decided by a designated competent person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">40. Wristwatches, make-up, and jewellery should not be worn in clean areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">41. Changing and washing should follow a written procedure designed to minimize contamination of\u00a0clean area clothing or carry-through of contaminants to the clean areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">42. The clothing and its quality should be appropriate for the process and the grade of the working area.\u00a0It should be worn in such a way as to protect the product from contamination.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">43. The description of clothing required for each grade is given below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Grade D<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Hair and, when relevant, beard should be covered. A general protective suit and appropriate shoes or\u00a0overshoes should be worn. Appropriate measures should be taken to avoid any contamination coming\u00a0from outside the clean area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Grade C<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Hair and where relevant beard and moustache should be covered. A single or two-pieces trouser suit,\u00a0gathered at the wrist and with high neck and appropriate shoes or overshoes should be worn. They\u00a0should shed virtually no fibres or particulate mater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Grade A\/B<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Headgear should totally enclosed hair and, where relevant, beard and moustache; it should be tucked\u00a0into the neck of the suit; a face mask should be worn to prevent the shedding of droplets. Appropriate\u00a0sterilized, non-powdered rubber or plastic gloves and sterilized or disinfected footwear should be worn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Trouser-legs should be tucked inside the footwear and garment sleeves into the gloves. The protective\u00a0clothing should shed virtually no fibres or particulate matter and retain particles shed by the body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">44. Outdoor clothing should not be brought into changing rooms leading to Grade B and C rooms. For\u00a0every worker in Grade A\/B area, clean sterile (sterilized or adequately sanitized) protective garments\u00a0should be provided at each work session. Gloves should be regularly disinfected during operations.\u00a0Masks and gloves should be changed at least for every working session.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">45. Clean area clothing should be cleaned an handled in such a way that it does not gather additional\u00a0contaminants which can later be shed. These operations should follow written procedures. Separate\u00a0laundry facilities for such clothing are desirable. Inappropriate treatment of clothing will damage fibres\u00a0and may increase the risk of shedding of particles.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Application Note \u2013
